What is Glass Frosting?
Glass frosting is a special type of glass decoration that adds value and marketability to glass products. This type of decoration is currently used on many different types of glassware, including but not limited to lighting fixtures, mirrors, barware, cosmetic bottles, liquor containers, and art. It’s designed to give the piece of glass an eye catching look that separates it apart from other glass pieces.

A Frosted Liquor Bottle
Generally, liquor bottles or cosmetic bottles will go with a frosted glass look to make the product appear from magical and desirable. It may also serve as a tool to hide unwanted features about the product, such as a dip stick in an aerosol perfume bottle, or to hide sediment in a bottle of liquor.
Frosted glass is defined as a “roughened glass surface usually produced by immersing the article in hydrofluoric acid and fluoride compounds.” Many people refer to this also as acid etching, although we prefer the term frosting. The term etching can sometimes give the idea of a deep cutting of the product. Usually a glass piece that has been frosted will have a much smoother feel than a product decorated with a spray or sandblasting.
