A glass frosting company and or etching company or individual can add wonderment and charm to many different articles to help increase sales through a more appealing and attractive presence. Glass frosting can be done on any number of endless possibilities, such as mirrors, lighting, shower doors, windows, candle holders, drink glasses, cosmetic jars, perfume bottles and make-up bottles. Wine and liquor bottles can be adorned with glass frosting, setting them aside from plain glass with an unsurpassed eloquence and charm. Glass frostings make any container stand out from all the others. When one thinks of glass frosting a window in the deep winter may be what one pictures and is exactly how glass frostings appear. Frostings can be used in most types of glass.

A glass frosting company sets plain glass items aside in marketability. Frostings seem to enhance any product. Frosting can also hide part of the product such as in aerosol bottles it will mask the dip stick. Wine and liquor may naturally have some sediment in the bottle and frosting will hide this sediment. Frosting are not done to hide product flaws, but to mask part of the product that is not as becoming to look at. Some companies even market numerous containers and will frost/etch them for the consumer.

When one speaks of acid etching they can immediately think of an individual person or glass frosting company who actually etches the glass with certain tools. While this can be the case, frosting or chemical etching is the other process. A hydrofluoric acid is used to immerse the glass, causing the frosting. Acid frosting is a much more economical method then ceramic spray or a sandblasting technique. The end result of an acid etching roughens the glass surface and also lends to the item a smoother surface on the glass better then other processes. Other methods must be fired and this method requires no firing in its process.

An Example of Frosted Glass - Two Glass Makeup Containers

Some companies specialize in frosted glass vinyl window art for business and residential homes. The company will help you to design your art window or you can design it and the company will comply. The company will also be glad to alter the customer’s design. These companies can add eloquence to inside doors such as French doors, or storm doors. Frosted glass will add some extra privacy will enable the person to look through the glass. If you have some outside view that is less then appreciated, then a frosted window with hide any unsightly views.

Frosted windows will add a decorative, and customized and curb appeal to any home for sale. A frosting will finish off any home with an expensive aura and will add class. The film added to windows is shatter proof. This surface cleans well and is durable, giving the owner years of enjoyment. Frostings are not affected by the sun’s rays, heat and or moisture and cold.

Glass frosting offers added security and will block out much of the harmful UV rays but will still allow natural sunlight to filter through. When searching for a glass frosting company, find out how many years of experience they have had, and their customer satisfaction level. Check out how helpful and supportive their customer service department is. Does the company you chose have the Better Business Bureaus seal of approval? Check with the company you chose as to what kind of warranty or guarantee they offer and for how long.

A frosting company can add unheard of eloquence and design to any home or business in ways unheard of. Call your company today for an estimate and make your home or business stand out from all the rest. You will not believe how good a company like this can change appearances.

Acid etching is a craft and industrial process that is used to make cuttings on glass and other surfaces by the use of acid. When used in making cuttings and other designs for craft, it is used by artists mainly on glass and metal surfaces. The acids used in creating an acid etch are sodium fluoride and hydrogen fluoride both which are very dangerous substances. The process starts by covering the glass surface with a coating of wax commonly referred to as resist or ground, the artist then with the use of special etching tools creates a design on the glass. The designs could be anything that they want to appear on the finished glass surface. After completing the designing, the glass is dipped into the acid mixture which starts eating into the glass surface that is exposed. This is the parts where the designs were created and once the acid eats into the design to a designed depth, the glass material is removed from the acid and the resist covering cleaned off. Most of the substances used in acid etching, the acids and etching tool kit can be bought in common artistry shops. Glass etching is simple and anyone who understands the process can do it at their homes and create acid etch crafts for sale of for their own use.

Since the acids used in acid etching are really dangerous, it is advised that the handler wears protective clothing while working on the glass. Kitchen gloves are essential so as not to contaminate their hands with the acids and the handler should also avoid touching their eyes with their hands while they have the glass dust on them. An apron or overall would be also ideal to prevent their clothes from being stained while working on the items. For a safer working environment, there are other safer etching creams for those artists who want to work from their homes. The creams however do not have the same deep effect of acid etch just like the hydraulic acid does. While using the etching cream, a stencil is placed on the glass surface being worked on and the cream is wiped over to leave a cloudy finish pattern where the glass was exposed. This is a simpler method of acid etching on glass surfaces. Images and patterns can be produced on glass ware such as bottles, wine glasses, plates and other glass surfaces such as window panes too. There is no limit to the designs that can be designed to the glass surfaces using acid etch method. Colors can also be used in the process to developed colored patterns which are more beautiful.

The tools required for etching are: eye wear protection for the handler, gloves to protect their hands, an overall or apron for protection, a room that has sufficient light either natural or a movable lamp, a stable standing table as your working table and the etching kit which can be bought and assembled easily. The artist also needs hydraulic acid cream, a brush or several of them, a plain contact paper that is not patterned, a sponge or bristle, a scalpel, a clean rag for wiping the progress of the work, carbon paper for drawing the designs, tracing paper, pencils, masking tape and window cleaning solution to clean the glass surface worked on after finishing the project. Most of these items can be found at home or bought easily from craft shops and other stores around the home or shopping centers. If the artist would want to make further engravings on the glass, then a hand-held diamond tool used for making the hand pointed engravings is necessary. It is recommended that if one is a novice in the art, then they should not begin with a valuable glass piece because they might damage it due to lack of skill. Instead, practice should be done first with other glass pieces then the progress can continue like that.

There are two kinds of glass, the harder kind used on soda bottles that do not break easily and the leaded one that is lighter. The leaded glass is ideal for acid etching projects because it is easier eaten by the acid.

Glass frosting is a special type of glass decoration that adds value and marketability to glass products. This type of decoration is currently used on many different types of glassware, including but not limited to lighting fixtures, mirrors, barware, cosmetic bottles, liquor containers, and art. It’s designed to give the piece of glass an eye catching look that separates it apart from other glass pieces.

A Frosted Liquor Bottle

Generally, liquor bottles or cosmetic bottles will go with a frosted glass look to make the product appear from magical and desirable. It may also serve as a tool to hide unwanted features about the product, such as a dip stick in an aerosol perfume bottle, or to hide sediment in a bottle of liquor.

Frosted glass is defined as a “roughened glass surface usually produced by immersing the article in hydrofluoric acid and fluoride compounds.” Many people refer to this also as acid etching, although we prefer the term frosting. The term etching can sometimes give the idea of a deep cutting of the product. Usually a glass piece that has been frosted will have a much smoother feel than a product decorated with a spray or sandblasting.
